Poem for our Mum

Created by Graeme 3 years ago
Your beautiful heart stopped beating,
Your hard working hands are now at rest,
It broke our hearts to see you go,
God seems to only take the best.

They say that memories are golden
Well maybe that is true
But we never wanted memories
We only wanted you

Your life was love and labour
The love for your family everlasting and true
You always did your best for us
We will always be grateful to you

We sat at your bedside
Watching you fade away
Even though our hearts were breaking
We knew you could no longer stay

Dad gave you the best 66 years of your life
And we all benefited from that every day
Listening to your holiday trips
Brought laughter and joy to our lives

We will miss the clicking of the needles
As you knit another jumper
And Dad complaining about the noise
As Neil Diamond creates the thunder

If the Cats loose the premiers
God help us if that happens
I’m sure we will hear you say
That bloody umpire is useless in every way

When Xmas comes around
Your pudding recipe will live on
Just like our lasting memories of you
Will never fade and will always be strong

Remembering you is so easy,
We do it every day,
But there’s an ache in our hearts now,
That will never go away.

Love you forever Mum,
Stay warm and rest in peace
Our lives will have a huge hole,
Now that you’ve been released.
